Ben earned his Bachelor's of Science in Physics and Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Kansas State University in 2018, and his Master's of Science and Ph.D. in Physics from Florida International University in January 2021 and Spring of 2023 (respectively). His focus was on how students come to (or do not) see themselves as 'physics people' or identify as physicists and how the cultural space of physics could be adjusted to make more room for a broader variety of students and perspectives. In recent years, he has done work to uplift Indigenous ways of knowing in informal science education organizations/groups and think about how scientific organizations can work more intentionally with their local community. Ben finds all these research areas still interesting. In his spare time, Ben likes to watch copious amounts of TV/movies, design and sew clothes, create art (@archibarbeque on Instagram), party plan (Events by Beque), and listen to phenomenal artists (e.g. Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Adele).
