Welcome, Team Science!

Connect is a campuswide, multi-day orientation experience designed to introduce new students to the many resources and opportunities available at Oregon State. Explore campus, meet new people, and discover all the ins and outs that make OSU, OSU! To make your life easier, we’ve collected all the College of Science events in one place so you don’t miss a thing.

Rally right before New Student Processional and Convocation; students will receive their welcome gift and meet the dean of the college. Get hyped up as part of Team Science before the walk!

Monday, September 22

Each fall, Oregon State officially welcomes new students during the New Student Convocation ceremony. Students are expected to attend in person or participate via the live stream.

2:30 p.m. – Student line-up

New students will line up by college in the Memorial Union (MU) Quad.

3 p.m. – Processional

  • New students will participate in the New Student Walk down 26th Street.
  • Students gather with their academic colleges and proceed from the Memorial Union Quad to Gill Coliseum for the New Student Convocation ceremony with OSU senior leadership. This tradition, right at the beginning of your academic journey, mirrors the procession you’ll partake in at the end. The next time you line up with fellow students in your college and travel this route, you’ll be on the way to receive your diploma.

3:30 p.m. – Ceremony

  • Convocation will be in Gill Coliseum.
  • Each fall, Oregon State officially welcomes new students during the New Student Convocation Ceremony. Convocation, which literally translates to "come together," is another ceremony that bookends the Oregon State University academic year. While commencement celebrates graduates, convocation celebrates new students — in Corvallis and online.

FORTE

Tuesday, September 23

  • 9 a.m. to Noon, begins in LINC
  • FORTE is OSU's academic orientation event for new first-year or transfer students starting at OSU in the fall. Students attend a keynote session with a panel of current students, and two breakout sessions of their choice.

Wednesday, September 24 @ 7:30 a.m.

→ Science Success Center Lounge, 109 Kidder Hall

Enjoy this two-hour breakfast and meet other new College of Science transfer students, advisors and faculty!

Beaver Community Fair

Friday, September 26th

  • Noon - 4 p.m., Memorial Quad & SEC Plaza
  • Beaver Community Fair is the largest organization and club fair that OSU offers. Come check out ways for you to get connected and involved in campus, pick up free merch and snacks and meet awesome people!
