Jesse obtained his PhD in astronomy from Yale University in 2019. His dissertation research focused on the turbulent motions of gas around forming stars, using observations across the electromagnetic spectrum. Following a stint traveling around the world, Jesse began his career teaching physics and astronomy. After positions at the University of Wyoming and the University of Oregon, he arrived at OSU in 2025. When not learning about or teaching physics, you can find Jesse foraging for mushrooms in the woods with his dog and partner.
