I enjoy teaching mathematics and doing research on mathematics. My teaching interests are in differential equations, linear algebra, data science, probability, and mathematics for engineers. My research interests are on applications of mathematical physics to problems in wave and structural mechanics with the goal of providing solutions to coastal and ocean engineering problems. I am particularly interested in coherent structures (such as solitons and breathers), wave turbulence, and nonlinear vibrations. My favorite mathematical methods come from the areas of Hamiltonian and completely integrable systems, analysis (focus on complex and numerical), partial differential equations, classical algebraic geometry, and probability.
I am also a fan of anything ocean related, platonic solids, crystals, group theory, and quantum mechanics.
